We are aware of the impending passage of the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021
(ARP) and it’s ramifications to those who received unemployment benefits in 2020.
If you have already had your return prepared and filed, we will have to file an
amended return.

For now, the IRS needs to reprogram their computers. Then they will have to share
the code with software developers who will have to test the programming with the
IRS computers. Then the states programs will have to be changed and tested
because this is a federal only law change. When that is completed, we will get the
updates in our software and be able to process original or amended returns with
Unemployment Compensation.

Although we didn’t create this issue, we do apologize for any inconvenience this will
create. It is just another contributing factor to tax practitioner’s requests to extend
this filing season. Thank you for understanding.
